2010 Service Project Wednesday, April 14
Camp Covington, Louisiana
The Association of Girl Scout Executive Staff worked with a team from GS Louisiana East to develop a deserving service project for the first, and hopefully annual, service project aligned with the Annual AGSES Educational Conferenc & Expo. We were extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work at one of Louisiana's most historical (since 1927) and beloved Girl Scouts camps that was devastated by Katrina in 2005 and had yet to be fully re-opened.
Generations of Girl Scouts and the community at large greatly appreciated the volunteerism of AGSES members who spent a full day before the Annual Conference in New Orleans working at Camp Covington. The volunteers exceeded the expectations of camp personnel with their construction and painting skills and we are pleased to say that the camp will be able to open its doors for full camp programs for the first year since Katrina.
Thank you to our corporate sponsors: Badge Magic; Kellogg Company; Little Brownie Bakers; and Trophy Nut Company.
A special thank you to the AGSES members who made a monetary contribution to the project: Kim Dyer; Deb Krebs; Kathy Storage; and Helen Wronski.
And, many thanks to the volunteers!
