Get to Know AGSES

The Association of Girl Scout Executive Staff (AGSES), established in 1939, is the national professional organization maintained for the purpose of enhancing professional excellence for all employed Girl Scout staff. AGSES is an independent, voluntary association and is an active, working organization that encourages participation from every member. It is composed of eight geographical sections and serves as a nationwide voice for all Girl Scout staff. Working in partnership with GSUSA and other professional groups throughout the country, the organization continues to examine the needs of its membership - securing valuable work-related benefits for Girl Scout staff. In fact, AGSES has taken the lead by assisting Girl Scout staff through the current uncertain times of realignment by offering tools and techniques for managing stress, blind resume posting, nationwide job postings, dialogue about retirement eligibility, and more.

One of AGSES’ greatest assets is delivering high quality-low cost services to members by way of annual spring and fall conferences and tri-annual conventions. Skill-building workshops, sensitive issues education, pluralism venues, communication tools, and other opportunities for professional and personal learning opportunities are offered at our annual conferences. Not only do the conferences provide national travel opportunities for its members, they also set the perfect stage for networking, camaraderie, and friendship with Girl Scout staff in other councils. (Financial assistance is available to members).

Another great member benefit of AGSES is the educational scholarship opportunity. Members can apply for a financial grant to take advantage of an external learning opportunity. AGSES also provides a “Members Only” section on its web site. This section features business book reviews, information about the latest business trends, membership roster, member surveys, and more.

Girl Scout professionals join AGSES as members of the national organization. Membership is open to all employed Girl Scout staff that remit the annual or lifetime membership dues and subscribe to the organization’s beliefs in professional development, ethical conduct, and pluralism.
